Four Reasons We Trust Southbend Ranges

controls professional gas oven Southbend ranges have been produced for over 100 years. The company’s commercial selection of ranges is considered to include some of the best, quality ovens available today. In 2005, industry peers voted Southbend the “Best in Class” title from the Foodservice Equipment and Supplies organization. Southbend has earned consumer trust over the years in a number of ways. Here are our top reasons why we consider Southbend Ranges one of the most trustworthy brands on the market today.

#1 - Ownership

Southbend is a division of Middleby Corporation. Middleby has a long history of providing first-class commercial equipment to the restaurant industry. Along with Toastmaster, Pitco, MagiKitch’n and other brands, Middleby Corporation provides Southbend with a great platform from which to service the customer’s needs.

#2 - History of Achievement

Middleby and Southland have history in the restaurant business that dates to 1888. Joseph Middleby, a bakery supply owner, and engineer John Marshall partnered together to create, manufacture and market a line of custom ovens. The Southbend range began production in 1898. For over 100 years, the Southbend range continued to build upon its solid reputation among chefs and industry rivals. When the owner of Southbend, Middleby Marshall, split from the conglomerate concern, Stewart Systems, he began an aggressive push to become the industry leader in ovens. Domino’s Pizza Inc. and Pizza Hut (owned by PepsiCo Inc.) began using the top-quality conveyor ovens sold by Middleby Marshall. The speed of the ovens and patented technology gave these growing pizza companies an edge over the competition. Very quickly, Middleby Marshall and the Southbend name become synonymous with best-in-class commercial ranges.

#3 - International Reach

Middleby and the Southbend line began a period of international growth during the 1990s. The key acquisition made by the company was Asbury Associates Inc., a foodservice equipment manufacturer based in Manila. The company expanded its distribution section beyond Asia to the rest of the world. A Canadian acquisition, Escan, began distributing Southbend and other Middleby products in Canada. The company continued its international growth by buying a kitchen equipment manufacturing business in Manila also in the 1990s. These acquisitions, along with strategic management decisions that helped grow the company further, launched Southbend as one of the most favored international brands.

#4 – High-Quality Ranges

Southbend produces three types of top-quality ranges: the Ultimate Range, the S-Series and the Electric Range. These superior products have several features that have made Southbend trusted by a vast number of chefs in America and elsewhere.

The Ultimate

Considered one of the most durable machines on the market, the Ultimate comes in five different sizes and over 1,200 configurations. There is an Ultimate that will fit any kitchen anywhere. The Ultimate is 100 percent made in the USA and has a burner box made totally of stainless steel. With sizes ranging from 24” to 72”, no matter how big your restaurant an Ultimate will meet your needs. The 60” Ultimate range has a 2-foot or 3-foot griddle/charbroiler. It comes with four or six burners, but you can get 12 burners with the 72” model.

S-Series

The S-Series model has four different sizes with various top configurations. You can have open burners, griddles, hot tops or a combination of these. The smallest, the 24”, has a space-saver version that still has enough room for a full-size sheet pan to fit inside. You can get standard or convection oven bases. One of the 60” models has 8 burners. Another has a broiler. The rest of the models have anywhere from three to six burners, and some come with raised griddles. Standard and space-saver models come with one oven rack, and convection oven models come with two. Sheet pans fit inside standard or convection either side-to-side or front-to-back.

Electric Range

Southbend electric ranges have stainless-steel fronts, tops and sides. You can purchase a standard, convection or TruVection base. The convection models include three oven racks and vented, air-cooled motors. The standard electric ranges have one oven rack and aluminized steel door liners.
